Songdew in association with Renault on April 23, 2015 presented the 'Free The Music Awards' to some of the musicians and bands of Bangalore in recognition of their outstanding contribution to indie music. Jim Ankan Deka, the director of Eastern Fare Music Foundation and a musician is the first Assamese to be conferred with this prestigious award.

Among others Brodha V (rapper/producer), Lagori (folk rock fusion band), Aathma (rock band), Until We Last ‏(ambient/post-rock band) and Karthik Gubbi (rapper/songwriter) received the 2015 'Renault Free The Music' award. Also, to commence with the award ceremony, performances by BIG DEAL and G'nie Fanai entertained the audience.

Renault Free The Music is a unique initiative by Songdew wherein not only some of the most talented artists are discovered but more importantly their music is promoted globally and they are given opportunities to perform live at some of the best venues in the country. Baiju Dharmajan, renowned musician and brand ambassador for this initiative, says, “It is very heartening to see that Songdew and Renault are providing such opportunities to upcoming artists.”
