Eastern Fare teams up with Catherine Khiangte from Mizoram to cover Charlie Puth's Marvin Gaye

Let's Marvin Gaye and Get It On - Eastern Fare feat. Catherine Khiangte

Some time back, musician Jim Ankan Deka had revealed that he would love his band Eastern Fare to team up with musicians from Northeast India to start different collaborative music projects. After collaborating with singers from Assam - Rupam Bhuyan, Queen Hazarika and Antara Nandy (remember the Sa Re Ga Ma Pa 2009 finalist?), it took him 3 years in North-east to end up meeting the owner of an amazing voice from Mizoram - Catherine Khiangte. They talked, made friendship, and came up with their first live and unplugged recording of Charlie Puth's 'Let's Marvin Gaye and Get It On' ft. Meghan Trainor, a Billboard top 40 Hot 100 hit.

Catherine was born in Aizawl, Mizoram and has been singing since she was child. She has performed across India and has been the first finalist from North-East India to represent at KWC - Karaoke World Championships held in Mumbai in 2011. She has released two Mizo albums so far which contain her original compositions. She was even nominated for the Best Newcomer at the Rimawi Khawvel Music Award and Lelte Magazine Award in 2004. Catherine has shifted her base to Guwahati in 2008.

The band members came together, recorded and shot the video of 'Marvin Gaye' which was made available on YouTube under the ChaiTunes Projects (a series of music projects founded by Music Malt in Bangalore) on Dec 17, 2018.
